JOIN THE CAMPAIGN!

Success! Message received.

Hi everyone!

I grew up and currently live in Springvale, a suburb of south east Melbourne renowned for its multiculturalism. I attended Springvale Rise Primary School between 2005 and 2011, and Wellington Secondary College between 2012 and 2017. My hobbies include basketball, listening to music, news, driving/road trips, public speaking and volunteering.

Thoughout the past few years I’ve been working very hard to ensure the expectations of people in my community, and Victoria as a whole, have been met. Whilst completing studies, I have been involved in a number of opportunities in the wider community.

Since November 2014 I have been a volunteer at the Red Cross in Dandenong, being a sales assistant at the op shop. Through this role I have been actively involved in store merchandising, cleaning and greeting customers, and help achieve sales targets. I’ve also been involved in a number of other volunteering opportunities including Foodbank, the Good Friday Appeal, the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road race in 2016 and the South Sudanese Australian National Tournament in 2017, as well as taking part in a number of fun runs such as Run for the Kids, Run Melbourne and Run Geelong. My first paid job was a casual at KFC, in April 2016, and I've been working very hard in that job.

The VicSRC is an organisation I have been closely linked to since 2015, with my attendance at the VicSRC congress in July on that year, and attending VicSRC regional conferences since then. I have been fortunate to help my school win the rights to host one of those conferences. The Victorian Youth Summit is also an event I’ve attended. All this have helped given me a strong voice on how to improve the day to day lives of young people in Victoria.

At my high school, I have held leadership positions since 2014. Through being a member of the SRC (and as president in 2016) as well as the curriculum and peer support teams I have been able to contribute a lot in ensuring my school builds on its reputation, by providing exceptional service. This includes being a volunteer at parent teacher conferences, and taking part in and/or assisting in interschool sport teams and the school production.

At the school’s Awards nights I have received a number of awards, in particular, a prize for Service to the College in 2016, a Principal’s Award in 2017 and The Parents Club Award in 2013 and 2014. Outside of school I also received a certificate for being part of the Red Cross Doorknock in 2016, a Community Spirit and Leadership Award (issued by local federal MP Julian Hill), also in 2016, and the Duke of Edinburgh Award – Bronze level in 2015 amongst a wide range of other awards.

At present I am currently studying Bachelor of Business/Banking and Finance at Monash University, Caulfield, and planning to major in Accounting. This is a big step towards my transition to adult life. Perhaps what is more significant (which is what this campaign is all about) is that I will be applying to be an MP in state parliament, in the lower house, as an Independent first, but I am very supportive of the Labor Party. Whilst it may be quite a while away, the heavy lifting starts now!

I have so much on offer for you. My success in gaining a seat in the Victorian Parliament means that I will be able to expand my capabilities in continuing to provide the essentials and other things for Victorian communities.

This includes:

  • reducing waiting times for ambulances and at Victorian hospitals

  • providing a higher quality education for Victorian students

  • upgrading infrastructure so people can get from A to B faster

  • reviewing justice system which enhances the safety and security of Victoria

  • securing a whole host of major events and promoting Victoria, and

  • strengthening the economy, ensuring jobs growth is aligned with population growth

  • ease cost of living pressures for Victorian households

  • ensuring Victoria remains a liveable place for many generations to come.

I hope the Victorian people can get behind my ambitious bid, knowing that if I am successful in my campaign I will be the youngest person, and the first ever person of my own background, to enter Victorian state politics. Once my campaign gains publicity I’m also hoping to get endorsements from the Victorian Labor Party and the Victorian State Government.

The message is simple – I will be working hard to ensure non-material standards of everyday Victorians are met. I will act on the best interests of Victoria as a whole. And I will not rest until the ultimate goals are met.
